That show was great! I loved the joke about guys waiting till the very last minute to have to do laundry. In fact last night I was up doing laundry until 1:30AM! Not only was I in desperate need of laundry, but it shows procrastination at its best! You should come back to Penn College in the near future. Sorry to hear about your loss and I hope the rest of your travels are good!

I really enjoyed your show. You are really funny and I enjoyed sitting there listening to your stories and laughing about them with my roommates. I would love if you would be able to come back to our area again. Your story about your brother and grandmother really touched me. Great show Bernie, my condolences to hear about your grandmother, but I must let you know that attending our campus was much appreciated. If it is at all worth it to you and means anything I want you to know that your thoughts and experiences shared, moved at least one person. I am 19 years old and believe that I have a binge drinking problem. I was encouraged by my counselor to see your show, and being an advocate of comedy and having willingness to be open minded with my problem I attended (I was the dude 3 rows back with the camera, which by the way I deleted the video out of respect for your wishes). You see I have recently received my second underage within 12 months of my first both of which I had gotten during my career at Penn College, however the second was not as smooth and simple as a summary offense, fine, loss of license etc. This time I was sent to jail. In lieu of normal sober behavior, my drunken state of mind had gotten the best of me. After being stopped by a Penn College Police Officer with two open containers I had tried to give a false name, DOB and address, then proceeded to resist arrest. Something I would never even consider doing while sober. After serving only three days in jail I had realized what will work for me in dealing with my problem. I choose to tell myself what im going to do instead of telling myself what I’m NOT going to do. I would have approached you after the show but I feel it is much more personal (and respectful to others) to be able to tell you my background story without having other students listen to someone drone on with thier “story of self pity”. All in all I want to personally say thank you for providing me with something that I can take away from this other than a few laughs and humorous jokes. If you have the time I would appreciate a reply.

Your routine was awesome with a powerful heartfelt message! I know what its like to have a brother like yours… he is not a blood relation to me but he is just like my brother! he was diagnosed with Autism and though he is very smart and can keep advancing to a point with knowledge, his understanding of the meaning of life and what is going on around him stopped around the level of a 10 year old. He knows he is supposed to laugh at jokes and have sincere thoughts at other times, but he does not know why! Its hard sometimes, but the time spent with our brothers for them means so much that i couldn’t ever imagine telling him no. He has made my life better by being apart of his!

I’ve seen a lot of alcohol awareness lectures, and most of them are just terrible. I’ve never consumed alcohol, but usually after listening to some annoying cretin try to get on my level and be my “buddy” while telling me about the dangers of drinking, I feel like going out and having my first drink. Your show, on the other hand, was excellent. You didn’t patronize the audience either by giving off an air of superiority while lecturing about the dangers of drinking or by trying to force a phony rapport with the audience. You were genuine, honest, and above all else, god damn funny.
Great show and even better message. Some times its hard for people to understand how some things can ruin a persons life. You help people understand by incorporating humor with a serous topic. Well Done!

I want to personally thank you for performing at our school, especially on the day that your family buried your Nanni. I know she is smiling down at you from above–and very proud of you as well. Thanking you for your mere performance is simply not enough. I want to thank you for the message you gave to our community. I pray your blend of comedy with a message will get into the minds of our students and make them think before they take that drink or “hit.”
I am a staff member here at the college as well as a non-traditional student and probably have seen a bit more of life than the average student. I, too, have been touched by suicide and there are no words to convey my appreciation for the bravery you show in sharing about your brother Scott. His is a tragic story–one that I hope our students can learn from and not repeat.
