    Bernie,
You coming to SRU was incredible. As an athlete, we are so used to the scare tactic approach that the athletic department always pins on us. You were a great relief in getting the message across but also relating to us and giving us lots of laughs in the process.
SRU, as you saw, is in the middle of nowhere. So all we do is party. SRU has a drinking problem. If anybody tells you different….they are lying. We all like to go out but there are a few of us who just get too crazy. It’s not only alcoholism but also binge drinking. I’m a captain on a athletic team here at SRU and I’ve already had to babysit 2 teammates because they passed out. It gets old.
Hopefully, your message will open some people’s eyes to their problem and stop heading down that path.

Heyy Bernie i really enjoyed your show tonight!! Your hilarious, had us all crackin up! You really opened up my eyes and made me rethink some of the things i do. Thanks so much for coming through and trying to help us student athletes out! It means a lot that someone’s concerned about us students and wants to try and open our eyes about things we know, but kind of push to the back of our minds. Thanks a lot and God bless!

hey, dont ever come to slippery rock again. we’ll kill you.
    haha, just kidding.
    …….but seriously. dont.

    okay, kidding again.
im not gonna lie, your show was 100% better than what i expected.
well, i didnt really expect more than a boring, monotone “drugs and alcohol will kill you” type of thing.
…so take that compliment with a grain of salt.

hahahaha, for real, though. funny stuff.

    :) :)

Great show tonight. It was really funny

  10. 10 zellm1

Bernie thanks for coming The Rock) you were funny as hell. I didn’t really know what to expect when I was forced to your show by our coaches, but you were really good, and your message was great also, I Know way to many people with many problems that you went over tonight, and don’t take drunk driving / drinking serious…and even though I do party, I try and need to be more responsible. I really feel your message touched many of my friends including myself and others here at SRU. You made my night a good one and helped me think about the important things in life.
    Thank you again Mike T

  13. 13 Am1213

I loved the show… great time! It was so much better then I thought…. I thought it was going to be a boring lecture the whole time. Come back again!

    [In a low voice] “Haley!!”

Hey, thanx for comin’ out to old slip rock to make us laugh our ass’s off for an hour and a half :P SRU isn’t the most glamorous place in the world (As ginger hill is the highlight of most people’s weeks) but i think it’s small town’s like this that really need that “slap in the face” voice of reason, ya know? I personally don’t drink or smoke, but that doesn’t mean i didn’t take anything away from tonight or that i can’t bring some of it to some people that weren’t there.

“Shwany??? That’s probably what he calls his private parts.”

I liked how you opened up with how much everyone didn’t want to be there, lol. I’m a runner on the XC and track team and we were told we wouldn’t be allowed to run if we didn’t go. BUT, i know i speak for everyone when i say I’m really glad i did. How did you think of combining a half hour of straight up funny time with a motivational speech tacked onto it? That’s exactly how it should have been done in the first place. Kids (I’m 20 yrs old, so I’m allowed to say “kids”) now a days won’t listen to anything they need to hear and even if they do, they’ll just forget it as soon as they walk out of the room, but if you make ‘em laugh ’till they cry, then they can’t help but to remember it!

“…Ginger Hill—Oh, You gonna take a picture? No, go ahead! [Poses] Nah, I’m just kidding, haha. That’d be so geeky…that’d be like one of those facebook pictures in the bathroom mirror”

Hey, i gotta run (literally :P ) but good luck with your happy hour comedy tour and congrats on the 20 years sober!

    Kyle from Slippery Rock, PA

PS: Tell Sean that someone you entertained also suffers from chronic smiling, “it’s just my face!” :P

Thanks for coming to the Rock! It was the only mandatory function I’ve actually enjoyed. You have a good message to send to students and a great way of doing it. Also, I apologize for that one frat guy who was being really rude in the beginning. You did a great job ripping on him. It was awesome. You were hilarous and my roommates were quoting you all night back at our apartment. I am placing my dirty underwear and socks in their closets right now.

  16. 16 wm8104

hey man great show. Ive been an athlete here for a while and normally they get us these lame speakers. But they did a hell of a job by booking you. You were real good, real funny, and had a real good message. This was a great show. And thanks for coming to The Rock.

  17. 17 Vince_Lloyd

Just wanted to say I appreciated everything you said tonight, from the comedy which was hilarious by the way and the message you brought up into your show. Really hit home for me and sounded like the road I was going down in highschool. Gladly I turned my stuff around and got a bright future, thanks to people like you putting things into perspective for me. Good Luck with everything you got goin and congrats on the 20 years, my moms at 13. Thanks for coming to the rock and I hope to watch yur stuff some time in the future again.

Thank you for sharing your stories and wisdom with the students of Slippery Rock. You are an amazing person with a gift for comedy. I have a lot of respect for you and the work you are doing. Some people in your position might just let the fame go to their heads, but you are a wonderful down to earth guy and I am so grateful that you are using your talents to help others. I am not a partier but I know that a lot of people on our campus have a problem with alcohol, and I think your message really opened some eyes tonight. Thank you and God bless.

  19. 19 nbecka

Hey i just wanted to say Thank You! Most people do not know how much those two words really mean and how much of an effect they have on someone. Tonight really opened my eyes. I know that there are many temptations at college because most of us have way more freedom than we have ever had. I thought going into this meeting that it would be just another lecture on how to make the right choices, but your approach really had an effect on me. I really took your words to heart and will think about your life experiences you went through to get to where you are today before I make a decision. I called my friend right after I left and told her about your show and how it really made me think and how it made me laugh. I am really glad that we had the opportunity to listen to your stories and learn from them. Thank you so much for coming to speak to us and for making me laugh tonight it really made my night!!

  20. 20 haley23

Just wanted to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVED your show!! It was incredible!! You were hilarious and at the same time you really made me and a lot of student-athletes at SRU think about what’s important! I am sooo happy we were blessed to have you come to our campus and speak!! Couldn’t imagine a better person to speak with us on this topic! Your story is a blessing and your jokes made me laughing so hard I had tears…. By the way.. Im the center from the basketball team… as my deep voiced teammate soo boldly stated LOL

And I agree with the other post up there…
Not all girls take up the whole bed! : )

    Thanks again!! : )
Goodluck and best to you for the future!

I just wanted to stop by to let you know that your show was great. We all expected to be bored out of our minds when really it was the most exciting part of my week(…that’s slippery rock for you, isn’t it sad). You related to everyone in the crowd in some way or another. Some of my teammates were tearing up from laughing and then they were tearing up from crying. It’s great that you can share your life story in hopes of it hitting home with some people, and the best way to get anyone’s attention is with comedy. You had some great improvs up there. Thanks for coming to our small town of slippery rock, pa. :)

    Bernie,

Thanks for bringing your craziness to SRU. I really had a blast laughing along with and AT other audience members…. Hysterical! I really hope you message touched people the way it did me, you hopefully opened peoples’ eyes when it comes to serious issues such as drugs and alcohol…. It’s an issue that is hard to talk about sometimes, but you went about it in a way that was comfortable and inviting for all those who showed up. Keep up the great job touring the country spreading your message.. it’s a great show!!

Thanks again for making me think a little more about life and the choices I make.

    -Josh

I laughed so hard about Lindsay Lohan and the Dorito Joke I was crying. All the jokes were funny, and the message was one of the best I have heard. Im glad I went! Thanks!

    Bernie,

Great show tonight. Although a lot of people, including myself, had to be there, you made it entertaining and worthwhile. The idea of your tour is awesome, combining comedy with a slap-in-the-face message. Keep up the great work and thanks for making me think about the decisions I make.

    Bernie,
I thought that your show was great. You had me in tears I was laughing so hard. You really got a great point across and it was not boring. I was really not looking forward to going but I am very glad that I did. Thanks for coming to SRU I think that it opened up some students eyes. I wish some of my friends could have been there. I do have a question do you only go to colleges or do you do high schools too because I think that your show would be very good for high school level students too. I had a great time thanks again.

    Mandatory Meeting = No Charge
    Mock Tail Drinks = $2
Laughing my head off and being educated on alcohol abuse= PRICELESS!

Your presentation was wonderful! I went there dreading the fact that we were going to have to sit through some hour long lecture about how drugs and alcohol were bad for us, the same things i’ve heard all of my life. But you found a way to make it fun, and still get your point across. I’ve had to sit through a lot of “drug and alcohol awareness” type lectures, and even though i dont participate in these things anymore, this lecture actually made me think. Great Job! Thanks for coming!

    Bernie –
Great show! We were kind of forced into coming and I was just getting ready for, as you elquently put it, an old guy with a slide show of pictures and me almost falling asleep. You made it alot of fun though, and you had me choking I was laughing so hard. I especially liked the joke about going to a club, telling a woman your name and she goes, ‘ok goodnight.’ It made me think of my friend back home, Samy. Me and him would go to the club all the time and he would constantly get shut down not because of his name, but because he was 5′6″, long hair like Polamalu, and egyptian. You really got your message across well also. It made me think about how much I go out and drink and how much mroe I should be focusing on my studies. Thanks again for coming and keep up the good work!

Hey! I thought your show was amazing. I loved the Nyquil bit. I think your story is a great way to spread the word about alcohol abuse. You had the entire softball team laughing it up. I want to say thanks for making me laugh and the evening one to remember.

    Bernie –

Thanks so much for coming to SRU! It was a pleasure meeting you and having you on campus. I will admit normally I don’t get into the comedy act however, you had me cracking up all night. Thank you for making a difference in students’ lives. Your dedication is greatly appreciated; I hope we can work together again in the future.

    Thanks so much – Renee

Great show the other night, I’ll be pretty disappointed if SRU doesn’t bring you back every year to do this.

  33. 33 lf2008

I really thought the show was going to be lame…you proved me wrong!
I loved it! I’m so glad I went

  34. 34 kendra88anne

Thanks for coming to SRU … it was a good time! still laughing.

  35. 35 sherbear32

Bernie! Your show was great…like everyone else said you got the point across at a different angle from what we have been preached to since our freshman year. You really made me stop and think about my actions and my life, and I thank you for that! Your brother Sean sounds like an awesome guy, and he is lucky to have a brother like you =) Thanks again for coming to SRU and hope to see you soon!

  36. 36 sar5742

thanks for coming to slippery rock. you were absolutely hilarious and i commend you for all you are doing to bring awareness to college students across the country. as a fraternity member and someone who has experienced alcoholism first-hand through a family member, i understand what you were talking about. everything you said meant so much and i am sure you touched some people and helped them re-evaluate what they are doing. in years past we have had the “alcohol is bad, you shouldn’t drink or it will kill you speech.” this year was completely different and you definitely proved people wrong. im glad you went over the time limit and i am sure you could have gone on for another hour! on another note. what you do for your brother is absolutely amazing. my ex-girlfriend has a brother who will always have the mentality of a child, but he is a wiz when it comes to sports. i feel it is important to give back to the community and others in any way shape or form because we as humans take so many things for granted. people with special needs, like your brother and many others, can teach us so much and if we take the time to make them happy it will go a long way in life.

keep on keepin on with your comedy tour. you are doing a fantastic job. i am actually going to recommend you to my nationals for our grand conclave in texas this summer. i hope you get booked, because you are an inspiration to many.

    god bless and good luck.
