Hey Bernie, your show was great, Thanks for coming out and supporting your military. I appreciate your message. Best of luck.

    Bernie,

I will admit, along with all then guys I work with at the fire department on base, that we were a bit pissed when we heard that we had to attend a mandatory alcohol awarness briefing. I’m a 25 year old SSgt who has been in the Air Force now for 8 years, and I don’t drink very much or often; a few drinks a month. So, when I heard I “had” to go, the first thing I thought was, ” I know a lot of people who are 27 and over who are bad alcoholics and they don’t have to go…that’s B.S.!” Anyway, I just wanted to say you made this mandatory brief a great time! I think you did a great job at incorporating a solid message into your routine. You are great at what you do and thanks for coming to Charleston AFB.

Bernie, great show. I too was mad I had to attend ANOTHER briefing about drinking, but it was a great show. I am not a drinker myself but I hope your message gets across to some of the people that were there. Thanks for sharing your life experience with us and we would love to have you back in Charleston anytime.

    Head-band Man,
LOL! Great show! I think I can speak for all military folks that attended and say your show was so much better than everyone thought and so much different than we’re (military people) used too! The way you use comedy to bring to light a very serious and deep message is awesome and very entertaining. I bought a copy of the book so I look forward to reading all the stories from comics. Thanks for the laughs and picture!

    Sir,
Thank you for taking time out to come and be a part of our lives. I believe that the most important lives changed are the ones that we never even realize we had a part in changing. Traveling and sharing your message so much with strangers must be hard however you are serving your country in a very similar way to us. God has given you a gift and also a passion through some of your personal experiences and you have chosen to utilize your sarrows and experiences for a positive impact in the lives of many. This is service, and let me be the first to say that you don’t have to be in the military to serve. Thank you again for what you do for a living. Thank you for using your gift to serve others and thank you for visiting us here in Charleston.

    Bernie,

I give you mad props for making an “alcohol awareness” briefing AWESOME. I wasn’t bored at all and most importantly, no POWER POINT SLIDE! What a great speaker and role model. I am really taking some of the things you said to heart. Thanks again.

  19. 19 Kris Butler

    Bernie,

Thanks so much and God Bless you and your family. Without a test there wouldn’t be a testimony and I thank you so much for sharing your time and blessing my fellow Airman and I with your testimony. I pray that your experiences will benefit everyone that heard and will hear your story in the future. Everyone has a purpose and you are living yours. You asked us not to feel bad for you and I am thankful you said that because your message would have been lost and that would have been a shame because the message was simply awesome. I pray that God will continue to bless you as you allow him to use you to save lives. Take care and I can’t wait to hear your show again. Thanks for conquering your trials.

    Charles.

    Hey Bernie,

Thanks for the great show today! I agree with all of the others in that you have a great God-given talent and thanks for sharing that with all of us today! I have never laughed so much in a SAFETY briefing in my life. You know our safety office has now set the bar pretty high. I think they have to give a briefing every quarter….wonder what they will have to do to measure up next time? :)

I wish you continued sucess with staying sober. I know it is a daily battle. And you are right – your brother is very handsome!

    Sincerely,

    Tammy

    hey Bernie,

thanks for the great show. i just entered the active duty military and was abit ticked when i found out that i had to attend a mandatory drinking breifing when im only 18 and dont drink at all!! But your show made it worthwile experience, being the first comedy show i ever went to, plus the hour away from the shop was an added bonus.
Hope to get the chance to hear one of your shows again

  26. 26 Morrison

Great show Bernie!!! Great message, awesome comedy. Please come back anytime.

  27. 27 Stephanie P.

Thanks Bernie for your alcohol briefing without the power point slides! What a unique way of telling your story. It was inspiring to hear such a powerful message be told with such humor. Even though I’m only 23, I could identify with some of your story. I myself am an alcoholic. I want to congratulate you on your 20 years of sobriety. I just hit my one year mark. I hope one day I could be at least a fraction of an inspiration to people as you are. Thanks.

  28. 28 Fred

    Bernie,

Thanks for coming out, your show was great! Even at 0800 after a shift it was awesome, and I’m glad I was required to go. Thanks for your support.

I really enjoyed the show today here at Lackland AFB. I have been in the Air Force for just over seven years and your show was easily the funniest and most impacting briefing’s I have been to. I appreciate the humor and the seriousness of your show. I think you have a great way of capturing your audience’s attention and then keeping it, even when the subject matter of your show was more towards the serious, and safety side of why we were really there. I appreciate you coming to Lackland to make us laugh, but more importantly to make us think about our actions and the consequences of those actions if we choose to make bad decisions. Thanks for telling us about your past, as it may help us in our future. Keep doing what you’re doing, a real man is one who can control cravings and or desires; you doing that for twenty years is awesome, and twenty years from now you’ll be telling people that it’s been forty years. I know it’s not easy, but the reward of not doing those things that you spoke of is so much sweeter. After hearing you speak about your brother Shawn, and being an uncle I think you would agree. Again keep it up, you have a strong and powerful message that needs to be told and shared.

Take care, good luck and God bless.

Very awesome show Bernie! You had me rolling every second. Don’t stop what you’re doing because the message you get across is very inspirational. Hope to see you back sometime in the future. Take care.
