But im leaving this message because during your inspirational portion one of my nest friends in the whole world/sisters was sitting next to and when you finished your story she gave me the biggest huge. You story made her realize what she does is not healthy and it made her appriciate me all that much more. I dont drink so I am on occassion put in situations where i have to watch her and make sure she doesnt do anything stupid or hurt herself. I cant thank you enough!
Your story hit home. Unfortunately, I’ve lost a friend to prison for a long time due to some stupid decions made about drinking.

Second, thanks so much for coming in and speaking to us. It’s hard to get the message across to people when too much is too much. You definately made it clear to me! I have been in the middle of trying to balance things, I just joined the sorority about three months ago, so balancing my sorority friends with nonsorority, with school, and everthing else has been difficult! You definately made it clear what IS important, school and taking care of myself and friends. You may not understand… but you helped me alot! Thank you so much for all you are doing! For the sake of me, my friends, and fellow collegemates!

Thank you so much for coming all the way to middle of nowhere Iowa to help us wrap up Greek Week. I am a senior and have been through 3 “keynote speakers” prior to this and I can honestly say that you were my favorite by far! I have never felt so much mixed emotion in one hour before. My freshman sister is now apart of the greek community here at ISU and although I am the middle child and not the oldest, I couldnt help relating to your feelings of being the example you give to your siblings. My sister followed me to Iowa State from Chicago, joined the same sorority house, and so on. Half way through your message last night, my eyes were filled with tears and were not dry until the awards ceremony was over. I went home and your story was all I could think about, so you did your job and I am sure that many other people were just as touched, if not more. Thank you again, I couldnt imagine a better way to end my last greek week at Iowa State.

To sum it up, they loved your show. Recently, we have had a problem reaching a couple of our ladies about risky underage drinking, I really feel that your show and story opened up some eyes. Bernie- You had me laughing the throughout your whole comedic act last night! I thought it was just hilarious. When you started talking about how you lost your brother- tears swelled up in my eyes, because I too, have lost 2 close friends to suicide from alcohol related instances. Your performance was one of the best I have ever seen. I have dealt with many of the issues that you touched upon. My brother’s best friend and a good friend of my family killed himself one night out of nowhere. This was a week after a kid that used to attend the same church, another friend of the family, was killed by a drunk driver. It was very hard to deal with. Your story about your other brother touched me the most though. My mom’s cousin, Mike, was in a car accident when he was 17, causing permanent brain damage. Mike was an astounding kid before this. He already had created blueprints for his dream home when he was in high school!!! Now, there’s nothing that I love more than going with him to the bowling alley. The excitement and joy that you can see on his face when he is bowling is one of the greatest things that this world can offer. Again, thank you for coming and speaking to us, it was AMAZING!!!
