    Bernie,

I just came from you show at Big Navy Guam. I must say it was very hilarious. I laughed a whole lot for so early in the am but also brought a tear to my eye.

But things happen for a purpose. The awakening for you I believe for you was to help you see that you have a brother that needs you very much.

I can only hope you have helped our plight in alcohol awareness for our junior sailors. If we only touched one Sailor you have helped us in our mission.

Thank you and give your Mother, Sister, Brother a big hug from Guam.

    Hello Bernie,

Thank you for coming to Guam, it is so good to see someone from the real world, over here in guam is so far from everything that meeting someone from the estates its like WOW!!!! your information was very good, it is so sad that for us stubborn smart humans, it takes something terrible to impact our lifes for us to realize what we have and take charge, be leaders. i have a 14 year old brother and a 12 year old sister and you know, i am always getting on their case for messing up at school, at home and i seldon tell them that i love them. its like i want them to do good and be somebody they can rely on, have the things i didnt have. your story touched me and i will make a change in my our lifes and listen to them and be the older sister, the friend, the accomplice in their lifes of private memories, i know they miss and want to have. navy changes you sometimes and it is time for me to make the right change in my life for them. thanks bernie and congrats on your victory of 20 years. say hi to your bro and love him cause he is a priceless gift. my address is : NAVAL BASE GUAM PSC 455 BOX 173 FPO-AP 96540-1000

I just want to say thank you on behalf of everyone at the show this morning. Thank you for what you do with your life and all you have accomplished. From the faces of our crew this morning, you without a doubt made an impression on everyone and everyone loved the laugh. You brought an amazing message and amazing talent to Guam. I haven’t that hard in a long time! In the words of my shipmates “frikin awesome!!” Thank you for changing peoples lives.

  22. 22 SK1 Shawn Merry Bentley

I absolutely loved your comedy show; you had me shedding tears of laughter from your wonderful stories and tears of sympathy for the loss of your brother’s life. I am thankful that you took the courage to turn your life around and give such a powerful, heartfelt message – using comedy as a tool to grab people’s attention. I appreciate that you took the time to present your show to the soldiers stationed here at Guam. I thoroughly enjoyed your comedy show; you made my morning. :o )
I listened to your CD as I was heading back to work after attending your show. The Captain Crunch “mouth” is so true…lol. God Bless to you and your special angel “Sean or Shawn”(not sure how he spells his name). I can tell that you have a big heart and it warms my heart that you take such good care of your brother. I am also Irish and alcohol and pubs are often associated with the Irish heritage…lol…(don’t be fooled by the name Bentley…I come from a line of Duffy’s). I wish you luck in promoting the pitfalls of alcohol. Using comedy as your tool to communicate with people is very potent. I believe God has put you on a path to help others and bring a message of hope to those individuals who have allowed alcohol to control their lives. As we all know, we can only influence people to change but it has to come from within one’s soul to want to change. Old Irish Saying, “You’ve got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was.” God Bless and keep the positive spirit flowing.

Didn’t expect it to go as well as it did to start. Your a strong speaker and very funny. Thanks for coming to Guam.

Thanks again Bernie, for a powerful message to our american men and women in the armed service. It’s always a delight for me when a celebrity takes the time to give there time to speak to us. Take care and keep us laughing!!!!

  25. 25 MASN Marta, Amanda

Thanks for the great show…its wonderful to have entertainers like yourself give those of us stationed here in Guam a smile. As an MA in the Navy and as a paramedic before joining the Navy the effects of drinking and driving and other activities can be devastating. Its wonderful that someone like yourself can take a part of your life to show that a person doesn’t have to drink to have a good time, a good time can be had just by sharing time with your friends.
Thanks again for coming to Guam.

It was nice to get some good laughs for a change and an outlook on what drinking does to people by someone who has gone through it themselves. Thanx and come again.

  27. 27 Jessica Spielmann

    Bernie,

The show today was incredible, usually the All-Hands stuff has me fighting to stay awake cuz they’re boring, but I could NOT stop laughing. The end really hit close to home cuz I’ve had 3 friends pass away in similar situations. It’s awesome to see someone out there motivationally speaking, but you really grabbed everybody’s attention with the way you did it! Hope to see more of your work in the future, keep up the good work! :)

    Jess

  28. 28 Ashley

Thanks for the show! You have a gift thanks for coming to US NAVAL BASE GUAM to share it with us!.

  29. 29 Mike Pieckiel

Wonderful method and delivery, I loved it. You could have saved me a lot of trouble if I had heard this show about 13 years ago! Congratulations on 20, I wish you many more.

  30. 30 MM2 jamie Pearson

Bernie, Awesome show very funny. The real stuff people do everyday but doesn’t want to admit is always the funniest. But today I learned Talking about Booze and Weed in front of a bunch of Senior Navy Personnel is way more funnier! You got some big Balls… Great message, keep it up! P.S were not the Franklin Cable were just the Frank Cable but its cool. Gives the ship a little Flare…. know what I’m saying.

  31. 31 Kai

Alohas! Awesome show…Congrats on the sobriety…Excellent message within your stand-up routine…and Take of yourself and your family.

  32. 32 Augusta Davis

I just wanted to say that the show was great! The ending was very deep and punches you right in the heart. Really makes you think about how short life can really be. Thank you for sharing your story and trying to make a differnce in the world. Good luck in the future, and take care of your brother and sister. Thanks again!!!!

Just wanted to say thank your for everything you did and said today.i’m sure your message changed alot of sailor’s minds today and really made them think.i was never the drinking type but i do have an older brother as well as a younger brother so i definately know how u feel about everything.my little brother has actually always been my motivation/inspiraion and he’s the main reason i made it into the Navy.thank you for bringing all of the laughs and a sad but good story/example along with it.it’s really appreciate it.good luck to you with future events and god bless.

    Bernie,

I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being the voice that so many of us forget or even do not want to listen too. Today I spoke with you in the parking lot about a young sailor that I have who is traveling the same path you did. Your show could not have come at a better time for him. I believe everything happens for a reason and today your show was just another sign for my young sailor to understand his illness a little more. That sailor told me today that you were so down to earth and he could relate to the same issues that you went through. He went on to even talk to his co-workers about you show. Fortunately this sailor chose a couple days ago at the age of 20 to seek help on his own because his career was abruptly coming to end due to his alcoholism. I truly support him along this hard and troublesome road on getting the help he needs. I am just glad he was humble enough to seek help now instead of 10 yrs down the road for alcoholism. I really wish you could come out to Guam more often and bring your life to the young eyes who get stationed here and seem to think drinking is all that is available to them. I think they would see what alcohol truly is. Nothing but a long dark one-way road with big problems at the end. Thank you again Bernie. Hope to see you again “SHIPMATE”. 21 Jetty Cove Dr, Santa Rita, Gu 96915
