My name is Kurt Brown. I’m a freshman here at UTM. First of all I would like to say I enjoyed the comedy routine. You are one of the funniest people I’ve ever heard. Secondly thank you for the message you delivered. I used to party and drink. And drinking is a big thing in my family,that was until this past summer when my grandfather died due to sirosis of the liver because he had been a n alcoholic for a great number of years. Since his death none of my family drinks and we try to keep others from doing so. I think what you are doing is great. Keep up the good work.

I’ve never sat in an auditorium full of people listening to a comedy routine crying. Real tears. For serious, you can’t make this stuff up. I took my first drink when I was 13 years old, and I struggled with both alcohol and drug abuse until I was beginning my sophomore year of High school. What you said had a very personal effect on me. October 3rd was the four-year anniversary of the death of my friend Riley…Riley was always the one who would go to the parties and stay sober to keep an eye on his friends, and after he died I turned into everything that he would have NEVER wanted me to be. I never forget how much it hurts to not have him here, but sometimes I forget about what he would want. What you said restored some of those emotions for me, and I know I’ll never let go. As I was struggling with everything from alcohol to anorexia, it took a good thumping for me to even begin contimpalting…What would he think of me? What wold he say to this girl he knew so well as shes acting like someone she isnt? … with this thought process in hand, i had a lot of help getting my life back on track.
I just wanted to let you know that you really struck a chord with me. Thank you so much for helping me remember!
