We had a little movement on a pic or two!! Little out of focus! ![]()
Let’s also not forget to thank Lisa, ACES, Tammy and Wellness, Rachel and the Athletic Dept!
Thanks BEAVERS! You were AWESOME tonight! I just got to Omaho and I am hammered! (As in TIRED, not as in DRUNK! ).

So funny story…I went back to the library after your show tonight and stopped in the bathroom on the way. Automatic paper towel dispensers! I was waving my hand in front of it, basically screaming WORK!!! Looking like a complete idiot, I then realized that there was no paper towel in the damn thing. But…it was still a “wow can this really be happening after he just told that joke” kinda thing. Crazy!
hey man,
you are awesome and i loved the show tonight! you message was really sweet so keep it up!!

Your appearance tonight in Beaverland was AMAZING!!! The comedy was hilarious and the message hit me very deep because two years ago I lost a really close friend due to someone drinking and driving. I don’t drink and when people do drink, I want them to be safe about it.
Thanks again!!
Bernie,
I thought the show tonight was great. I don’t think I ever quit laughing during the comedy part and then I really was drawn into the 2nd half the show. It was definetly a great way to get a good message across.

Wow, that was a very inspirational show. I’m one of those seniors …. you know, the three in the back. I just wanted to make sure that I let you know that I left the show with a funny feeling in my stomach. It got really serious at the end and it really was touching. I felt like you were telling my life story! I got in trouble a few times as well….I even had a brother killed by accident when some kids were drunk and high at a party…a little different but a lot of similarities. A little of the blacking out in there too…..
But what I really wanted to say is while I probably won’t stop drinking I really think this put things in perspective. I am very glad that you came and I think this is a great way to get this message across to college students…and even if they pretend it didn’t touch them when they walk out (the guys), it did. And they’ll think about it.
Thanks for coming! (Oh and by the way….I went to the library when I left your show…went to the bathroom…and that little towel dispenser that you wave your hands in front of. Empty. I didn’t know they ever got empty. I think you jinxed us. I even waved my hand in front of it for like two minutes before I comprehended why it wasn’t working. Almost did that flip you were talking about.)
Hey Bernie Good Show Tonight. Thanks for speaking.
Hey,
Thanks for coming to BV tonight and sharing your story. It was a great show!!
-Sarah
Thank you so much for coming to our campus. It was a very inspirational story about your brother and I am sorry that you had to experience something like that. I am not a drinker and all my friends tell me that I need to drink more. But I also play soccer and was a straight A student in high school and hope to be one in college. The reason I don’t drink is that my dad’s side of the family drinks a lot and I see what happens to people when they get really drunk. I see how you can really hurt peoples feelings especially the ones that you really care about. And I also see how their children pay for that in the end. This is one of the major reasons why I don’t drink and probably never will. Your message last night was just a reassuring fact that drinking is not the answer to everything and doesn’t get you through school or classes. I just wanted to say thank you again and you made me laugh so much that my stomach hurt from laughing.
Bernie-
I really enjoyed your show tonight at Buena Vista University. I think your message gets to a lot of college students, because of the way you present the material. You make it fun, but yet serious. I recently just turned eighteen years old, both my parents and most of my family are either addicted to alcohol or drugs. My father actually just got out of prison and the county jail for drugs and alcohol, and my mother dropped myself and my younger siblings off to my parental grandparents when we were younger and we haven’t heard from her since. All of my family has tried to get me to try alcohol and drugs, but I have always said no. Your message tonight reminded me of the simple reason why I don’t drink or do drugs; because we you are under the influence you do stupid things. Thank you for touring the world to college campuses trying to help people stay away from the alcohol.

Hello,
I just wanted to say your show tonight was amazing!! I really enjoyed it and your welcome back anytime!!!
Thanks again,
Jennifer
I thought that the show was very good. I have an older brother that had a drinking and drug problem. He has been in prison for almost 2 years now. I wish he would have been there to hear what you had to say and maybe just maybe he would not be in prison today . Thank you for coming.
You were wicked funny. You should definitely try to come back soon!
Your show tonight was amazing! I was not exactly looking forward to going, but I am really glad I did. Thank you so much for coming to our school!
Hey Bernie,
I loved your comedy act. I think you made a great impact. I personally don’t drink because I have seen the problems with in my family before me and heard the stories, I never wanted to be like them. I just wanted to drop a hello and I think you’re right that you have an amazing life now by doing something you love and traveling with such known stars. I also think it’s great about you and your brother Sean. I am an only child so I don’t get the sibling experience but I still think it’s awesome of how close you guys are and how you’ve been clean for 19 years. Congrats!
-Kim-
Hey Bernie,
I’d just like to thank you a lot for coming to BV. I myself am not a drinker, but I know many people who are, and in trouble. I’ve tried to talk to them, but they won’t listen to me, they think I’m being too up-tight. Sadly enough, they did not go to your show because it was nickel-pitcher night at Malarky’s. Since BV is a very very wet campus, sometimes it feels like I’m the only one that doesn’t go and drink on Wednesdays and weekends, but I try to find friends who don’t drink or rarely do.
Thanks again for coming,
Melissa
P.S. I’m president of the karate club on campus…but we don’t qualify as a sport yet, we’ve only been to one tournament
Hey Bernie,
This is the London girl here. I really enjoyed your stand up and the inspirational message. I have dealt with drunk people in my family all my life, doesn’t mean I haven’t experienced the stuff, but it has shown me and opened my eyes to not wanting to become that kind of person. When I heard your story about your brother, it made me think of my ex-boyfriend. I loved him with all my heart and I knew that we were going to be together the rest of our lives. He was on his was to pick up a friend from a party so they wouldn’t get pulled over or in a car accident. At the time, neither one of us had touched alcohol so we never went to the parties. He was hit by a drunk driver and was killed instantly.
I absolutely enjoy your courage and great attitude and I applaud you for not touching the stuff for 19 years now. That is amazing.
Thank you for coming to Storm Lake and sharing your humor and your great story.
Keep going and good luck in your future with your work and everything else to come.
Sarah
You’re show was great, Bernie! Thanks a million…19 years…Congratulations, man! That’s awesome!! CONGRATULATIONS!
Hey Bernie!
I am not going to lie, that was probably the funnest event EVER on campus! (I am a freshmen, so it makes sense!)
I cannot believe how touching and personal your story was!
I am writing an article for the campus newspaper about how awesome you were! I will try and email it to you! =)
Thanks for coming!!!!!!! =)
Hey-
I really enjoyed the show; it’s refreshing not to have another drinking lecture. I’m not a drinker myself, I went for ACES credit, but it was one of the best academic ACES I’ve been to!
hey went to ur show, and really appreciated ur message u sent out, i hope to see one of your shows again sometime
I really enjoyed the part of your presentation about your brother Shawn. It made me smile to see you had such a great relationship with him and reminded me of another set of brothers I know. Your description of Shawn fit the person I have in mind perfectly!… Great presentation and congrats on being sober for so long!!
Thanks for coming to BV, I laughed so hard and definitely had a great time!! I thought your presentation was great and your message completely different then most programs. Definitely come back! Thanks again!!
Omg you were so funny I was crying. That is how hard you had me laughing. Thanks for the great message. Losing someone sucks really bad. I know how you feel. Well anyways thanks for coming to Strom Lake. I had a great time.
Stephanie
Your show tonight was amazing…not only was it hilarious but it was very inspirational as well. Thanks so much for coming to BV!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
Hey Burnie, I really enjoyed your show last night. I didn’t expect to laugh as much as I did, nor did I expect to realize how easy it is to ignore the signs. But I just wanted to thank you for the good show, and hope to see you come back next year.
Bernie,
Great show last night. I think you gave out a good message and hopefully it made a difference in some people’s lives. Congratulations on being sober for 19 years, and enjoy the rest of your tour!
Hey,
Thanks for the amazing night and the great message! I had a great time and really enjoyed every minute of it. Keep up the great work!
Thanks,
Travis
Bernie-
You were HiLaRiOuS! Thanks so much for taking the time to come to our campus. If you’re ever in the area… I’m in! Thanks, again.
Hey!
I thought the show was great! Very funny! Im glad we got the opportunity to have someone like you come put that kind of show on for us! I would much rather listen to an inspirational speech like that then a lecture! My favorite part was the single thing when you asked who was single then did the crying thing.. haha! Thank you so much for coming!
Lindsey
Hey Bernie,
I would like to thank you again for visiting us here at BVU. Your message is filled with laughter and hurt which makes it so powerful as well as keeps the audience intrigued. I appreciate you sharing your story with us in hope to touch the lives of others and make them think about the decisions they make.
May God bless you as you continue to travel and share your message.
Rachel
YOU KILLED IT. Thank you so much for coming and presenting your angle on alcohol education. It is hard to stand up for what you believe in when everyone around you is caught up in whats “cool” or “popular” to the masses. I just want to encourage you to continue educating and motivating others because it helps. Don’t be discouraged…keep it up!
