   Bernie thanks for coming out and sharing your story with us. I could barely stay in my chair because i was laughing so hard. I think everyone was looking at me, Oh well. It’s awesome to hear that you have been able to turn your life around. Your message really hit home with me because i’m not so close with my brother who is 3 years younger. I do on the other hand am extremely close with my youngest brother who is almost 10 years younger. Anyways i just wanted to thank you personally on here, now i’m on a mission to try and clear things up with my middle brother. After hearing your story i hope it makes things better. I hope you continue to have a great relationship with your family and i wish you the best. Thank You very much.

   I just wanna say the hour you spent with us tonight impacted me a lot and I’m sure with many others. Instead of a boring scolding lecture – as most people would do it – you made your points across very well by bein very comical and brought up your bad experience with it all whcih is more meaningful. You’re amazing for the the strength you have gained from these experiences and restarinign yourself from alchohol for 18 years! Thats REALLY inspirational. I’m not gonna forget the words you have spoken tonight and if i’m ever in a bad situation I will think “what would Bernie do?” Thanks again. oh yea, and great imitation on the sport cross country. haha I got a good laugh out of that, althoguh we dont really run 60 miles a day – only about 9 haha = )

   Bernie I applaud you for doing what you do. It’s not always easy to share the bad things that happen in your life, for fear of being judged. However your story has helped many people change their life in some form in order to not make the same mistake you did. I think you are an inspiration to others . . . some of us don’t really know when to say I don’t need another drink. I can only speak for myself and say that from now on, I will not have trouble saying that. Thank you!

I loved that you did not try to preach to your audience, but instead connected with us on a personal level by relaying your experience with bitter honesty.    Hey Bernie! Thanks for coming and spending some of your time with us. I know that I really appreciated it. You had us all laughing and enjoying ourselves even though being there was mandatory. Not only did you get your message across, but I think that it hit home for a lot of people because we were all athletes. After we left, everyone was saying how much fun it was and how inspirational your story was. I’m so happy that your mom was able to see you perform on Thursday and it just so happened to be at Long Beach. I bet she is extremely proud of you.

    I love how all the athletes loved your program and I also would like to thank you for coming out here and making alcohol education a fun experience.

    I will keep you in mind for sure with my fellow colleges and I think you’re doing a wonderful thing for our youth but more then that I’m honor to have had you come here to Long Beach State!
