Bernie, I went to your show with my intention to teach my 14 year old (freshman in high school) and 12 year old about substance abuse, and it's consequences. Instead I came out thinking about my older brother who is now 49 years old and has been an alcoholic since he was in high school. It's been in the back of my mind for a looong time to tell him how I feel, but never had the guts to do so. After your show I knew that the time is NOW to speak with him and let him know how much I love him and make him realize the harm he is doing to himself. There's more to life than just partying all the time. Anyhow, thank you for sharing your life story with us, and teaching my kids about making smart choices in life. Keep up your good work! I am a high school senior taking dual enrollment classes so the high school drinking story hit me hard. I have never been the type to go partying and getting wasted at the club but I have done it at a friends house or wherever. I realize that drinking wherever is still gonna get you trouble. I messed up my freshman and sophomore year by ditching and drinking with my older sister. The message that you give out and your story are both amazing but not unusual.
